Biography of Ricky Skaggs

Country Music Highway is a National Scenic Byway created to honor the extraordinary number of musicians who were born along a seven county stretch in scenic Eastern Kentucky.

Lawrence County is proud that Country Music Highway star Rick Skagg's hails from Lawrence County.

Lawrence County is also proud of another local talent who hails from Lawrence County the talented singer/songwriter Larry Cordle. Lary has penned number one hit's for Ricky Skagg's as well as many hits for artists like Garth Brooks, and Kathy Matea to name a few.


Lawrence has a lot of other goodies that make it worth a visit as well :

  • Great fishing and rustic camping at Yatesville Lake
  • Rustic beautiful mountain scenery
