Country Music Highway was created to bring attention to the large number of
professional muscians
who were born in the area. Boyd County is proud to be a part of The Country
Music Highway, and even more proud that the Judds hometown is Boyd County.

Boyd County Synopsis:
Boyd County is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and
borders the Ohio and
Little Sandy rivers, Boyd county is known for it's Scenic natural
beauty.
Nature alone provides numerous opportunities for activities
ranging from boating, fishing, skiing and other water sports to camping and
hiking. The area has an extremely low crime rate, churches of numerous
denominations, and a way of life that acknowledges the value of hard work. The
region's residents enjoy all four seasons of the year, with an average daily
high of 41º in January and 84º in July. Precipitation averages about 41.5
inches of rainfall and 25.7 inches of snow a year.
A variety of recreational, leisure, athletic and cultural activities add to the
area's quality of life. There are many 18-hole golf courses that challenge
every level of competitor. The Ashland Tennis Center is one of the best in all
of Kentucky. Other amenities include walking and running trails, and the
YMCA-one of the best supported facilities.
